Digital marketing judged on pipeline, not impressions

Paid search, paid social and email, set up so you own every account, can see every number, and can tell which campaigns produced customers.

A good digital marketing agency turns ad spend and email into enquiries and sales you can count, and can show the path from the first click to the invoice. At Meritbyte Technologies, a Nepal-based web and software development company, digital marketing means paid search, paid social, email and lifecycle campaigns, plus the tracking that ties each one to revenue. The ad accounts are yours from the first day.

Campaigns are managed from Nepal for local businesses and, remotely, for advertisers in the USA, the UK and Australia.

Who is this for, and what problem does it fix?

It is for businesses already spending on ads that cannot say which campaigns produce customers. Usually the measurement is broken: Google Ads counts a page view as a conversion, Meta claims the same sale, and the CRM shows a third number.

It suits:

  • Service and B2B firms needing qualified enquiries.
  • Online stores spending on Google Shopping and Meta that want profit per order, not just return on ad spend (ROAS).
  • Companies that left an agency, lost the ad account with it, and want to start again properly.

It is the wrong place to start if the website cannot convert. A slow page or a form that breaks on mobile wastes any budget; our website design service or this landing page conversion checklist will help more first.

Tracking comes first because ad platforms optimise toward whatever you call a conversion. Tell Google a button click counts and it will find you people who like clicking buttons. We send qualified leads and closed sales back to the platforms so bidding learns from real outcomes.

Since 2024 Gmail and Yahoo have required bulk senders to authenticate their domain, offer one-click unsubscribe and keep spam complaints low, and laws such as CAN-SPAM, CASL and the UK's PECR decide who you may email at all. Our guide to email marketing for small businesses covers the setup.

Who owns the ad accounts?

You do. Google Ads, Meta and LinkedIn ad accounts are opened in your company's name and billed to your payment method, and we are added as users. If an account already exists, we ask for access to it rather than rebuilding it inside ours.

The same applies to the GA4 property, Tag Manager container, pixel and email platform. When the engagement ends you remove our access, and every campaign, audience and year of conversion history stays put. An agency that runs clients inside its own accounts has made leaving expensive.

How campaigns get run

  1. Discovery call. Free. With read-only access we review your current accounts, CRM and sales cycle, and ask what a qualified lead is worth to you.
  2. First milestone at a fixed price. Usually the tracking rebuild, account structure and first campaigns live. You know the cost before work starts.
  3. Two-week blocks. Each ends with a review of what we tested, what changed and what it did to cost per qualified lead. If the numbers are flat, you can stop when a block ends.
  4. Retainer. Once campaigns are stable, a set number of days a month covers optimisation, new creative, email and reporting.

A single project manager writes you an update each week. Between updates the dashboard is live: a link you can open before a board meeting, not a PDF on the fifth of the month.

Tools we use and why

  • GA4 and Google Tag Manager: free, familiar to your developers, and GA4 exports raw events to BigQuery when you outgrow its reports.
  • Looker Studio for the dashboard: free, shareable by link, and it reads Google Ads, GA4 and most CRMs.
  • Your CRM as the source of truth for what a lead became. We connect to HubSpot or whatever you already use.
  • Klaviyo for e-commerce email, Mailchimp or HubSpot for service businesses, depending on your store platform and list size.
  • Meta Conversions API beside the pixel, so ad blockers do not leave the algorithm guessing.

How much does digital marketing management cost?

It depends on channels, markets and how much creative is produced, and ad spend is always separate. Agencies price management in three common ways, each with its own incentive:

ModelHow it worksWatch for
Percentage of ad spendFee rises with budget; figures around 10-20% are often quotedThe agency earns more when you spend more, whether or not it works
Flat monthly feeFixed fee for an agreed scopeWhat is excluded, and what happens when scope grows
Days per monthA set number of working daysYou need to see what the days were spent on

Those are typical market figures and vary widely by country, channel and agency. What moves the cost: channels and countries, campaign and language count, whether we produce the creative and landing pages, how hard your CRM is to connect, and how many email flows are built. Our pricing page explains how we quote.

How to choose a digital marketing agency

Ask to see a live client report with the names hidden. If it opens with impressions and click-through rate and never reaches leads or sales, that is what you will be buying.

Red flags:

  • Campaigns run in the agency's own ad account, or no admin access for you.
  • Monthly PDF reports only.
  • Long lock-in contracts with no exit.
  • Guaranteed leads or sales.
  • A quote before anyone asks about your margins or close rate.
  • Conversion tracking that nobody has checked against the CRM.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep my ad accounts if I stop working with you?

Yes. Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn and email accounts are opened in your company's name and billed to your payment method, with us added as users. When you leave, you remove our access. Campaigns, audiences, conversion history and the reporting dashboard all stay with you, and the next agency or an in-house marketer can pick up exactly where we stopped.

How soon will paid ads produce leads?

Search campaigns can produce enquiries within days if people already search for what you sell. The first few weeks are still a learning period: which keywords and audiences convert, what a lead costs and which leads become sales. Paid social aimed at a new audience usually takes longer, because it has to create demand rather than catch it.

What is a sensible starting ad budget?

Enough to produce meaningful data within a month. For search, that means enough clicks on your core keywords to see which ones convert. The figure depends on cost per click in your market, which differs enormously between, say, legal services in the US and retail in Nepal. We estimate it from keyword data during discovery rather than quoting a round number.

Why judge campaigns on pipeline instead of clicks?

Clicks are cheap to buy and easy to inflate; a campaign can double its click-through rate by reaching people who will never buy. Pipeline, meaning qualified leads and the value of the deals they become, is much harder to game and is the number your finance team cares about. We import CRM outcomes so the platforms optimise toward it too.

Do you produce the ads and landing pages?

Yes, within the agreed scope. We write ad copy, produce static and simple video creative, and build or adjust landing pages, or brief your brand team if you have one. Landing pages are often the bigger lever: a faster page with a shorter form can lower cost per lead more than a new ad does.
